As soon as I say it nature will contradict me, but we have been enjoying a winter without snow SO FAR! That is great on so many levels, but as a watercolorist it is always a pleasure to see the world transformed by new fallen snow…and to have all sorts of things that are difficult to paint covered up by pristine white! That being said, with no snow-covered wonderlands to inspire me I turned to a different holiday theme for an inspiration this year.
I’ve often grown them, but haven’t done many paintings of amaryllis blossoms. I grew this beauty last year and saved a photo for inspiration. Of course, I had to imagine the background, as I didn’t grow a giant bed of them! So here is my holiday painting for 2016…”Holiday Blooms, Amaryllis”. Have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season!
PS – A watercolor class makes a good present for yourself or others. Check out my schedule for teaching in 2016! Sign up may not be until February for some, but you can plan ahead!
